Depict PropHorror

                                                    Production Evaluation

The camera work is fairly good, seeing as it was our first time filming, at some points it’s not as great and a little bit shaky. I believe the beginning is quite good and the camerawork is extremely steady at this point in the filming, as It goes on it does fail just slightly to withhold the steadiness as Reuben is walking; although it is expected seeing as the camera has to move at the same pace and is very tricky to pull off, about 0:53 the camera did originally shake quite vigorously but fortunately it was possible to edit out. The zooming is very rough and shaky, although this was not our fault as the tripod was very stiff and it was unavoidable. All in all I think the camerawork would have worked better if the tripod didn’t mess up as much but, other than that for a first time production it was good and I’m content with what our group produced.

Editing worked well, as a group we did quite a good job in editing out all the rough parts and minimalized them down, I am very happy with how the editing worked out. I like how we edited the colouring and gave it a more dark, sinister theme; it really added to the whole idea that we had planned, saying that I believe the non-copyrighted music we used played out fairly well although there were a few other tracks we liked but they were copyrighted and we wouldn’t have had enough money to do this. The voice over sections were not to my satisfaction and it was done extremely quick with no actual thought, I believe if we had had a little more time it would have come out better. We edited the sound out completely and like I said added a track into it, the sound beforehand wasn’t usable as there was a lot of talking and high sounding chatter in the corridors. The only scene were we didn’t remove the sound was the slamming of the door, that is all natural, we believed it was loud enough without any editing and I’m very happy with how it holds the scene together. The sound of footsteps that we added and the scream in the end weren’t a good choice in my view, they sound too comical and would have been better if we had recorded them ourselves and added them in. I was looking for more of a dark theme, although the outcome of the film is in my opinion a comical horror and I do believe the audience/ viewers will see it as that as well.

Mise-en-scene. We worked a lot on what was in the scene, take the props for instant, in every scene that they’re in not one prop is missing and this was what we wanted; we wanted there to be no loose ends or mess ups that were noticeable to the audience. In one scene of the corridor, way in the back you can see people walking by that aren’t supposed to be in it, this wasn’t planned but due to the timing we couldn’t waste any time on formalities like this. We had to film above Reuben’s neck in one shot as he had forgotten to wear the same costume, it wasn’t that hard to do but I believe it changes the scene slightly and would have liked it better if it was a little zoomed out.  My scene with me being typed up was very strange for me, I don’t think that it works well and my ‘acting’ is very appalling in my opinion, if we had used a different actor maybe it would have worked better.

Overall I believe that the editing, camerawork, sound and mise-en-scene is tolerable and works well, if I could re do a few things I would edit the voiceovers and work harder on focusing the camera better but other than that it was a good try and hopefully the viewers see that we put a lot of work in to it.
